How To Make Digital Art On The Computer

By Adriana Noton

There are many different career paths an artistic type could choose. People who grew up doodling on pieces of paper could not use a computer to draw what their imagination thought up back then. Today, there are careers in television and film for engineers and audio engineering for the artistic type. How to make digital art with a computer is taught at several college and university campuses in addition to online courses.

Several of the better known art school alumni have participated in various artistic designs using a computer. Graphic design and web design are but two of the many ways one could use their artistic and creative talents to produce beautiful, meaningful works of art with a computer or camera. One of the most popular computer generated pieces of artwork needed today is animation and 3d animation for advertising, movies and television.

Many artist may not realize, but sound engineering is also created by computer generated plans and artists. Sounds and music are considered art work and creating them on a computer screen is another way of producing it so it could be added to still shots of art work. These sound recordings could also be integrated into animation, commercials, television and film. This is known as sound engineering and many musically inclined people like to work in this field because it combines the latest technology and music.

Photography is another art medium that many people are dabbling in. They enjoy capturing a beautiful scene from nature, animals or children and then downloading the photo onto the computer. Once the photograph is on the computer, an individual could manipulate it using colors, stretching techniques or various software programs which allow the photo to be manipulated into a different kind of work of art.

There are several different computer software programs that will allow an artist to maneuver a photograph into something that is either completely different or unrecognizable or something a little more subtle then what it was originally. When it comes to computer generated artwork, people may think of the famous print of Marilyn Monroe which has four of the same photos only in different colors or tones. This painting was done by Andy Worhal and not a computer but the idea is the same.

A child's homemade drawing, a photograph or print could each be scanned through a regular scanner into a home computer and run through a software program to make it into something of a beautiful piece of artwork. There are many different ways to widen or shorten a picture so that the colors are running together or separated and this will change the entire look of a photo, giving an individual a new piece of artwork.

A lot of people are trading in their traditional art tools for a computer keyboard and mouse because they are less messy. Pencils, oil colors, acrylics and pens could all end up rubbing off and getting a person's shirt and skin dirty. Also, with a computer screen, it is less of a hassle to erase or redo something then it is with a customary style art utensil. An individual could erase what they are doing on the computer monitor much easier than try to cover up a mistake in paint or pen.

Learning how to make digital art for a profitable career such as for the movies, television or commercials, or even as a hobby could be a fun and rewarding venture for many individuals. There are several financial aide packages available through various avenues for both the traditional photography schools in Canada of art and the online photography school. In addition, some of these schools may offer to find jobs for graduates. - 40731
