Look For A Scare In A Real Haunted House Nashville Area

By Nadia Singleton

People are fascinated with ghosts. The prospect of encountering one is both thrilling and terrifying. Maybe that is why visiting haunted houses during Halloween is so popular, although the setups are fake; the scare is real and fun. However, if you are looking for a real haunted house Nashville area, here is a quick list of a few to visit.

The famous Belmont Mansion Historical Museum has at least one entity reportedly roaming its halls. Located on the Belmont University campus, Adelicia Belmont, the former owner, is said to still be there. Adelicia had a hard life, losing a fiance, two husbands, and six children could be a reason why she cannot rest peacefully. Students, staff, and security cards have made reports of seeing her in an ante-bellum gown. They say she is just floating around; making sure everything is in its place. One guide even reported that she informed him the furniture in one of the rooms was not arranged correctly.

Jacob Schnell built a magnificent mansion, and after his death, his two daughters remained in it. Now the mansion is gone and in its place is the Capital Records building. Unfortunately, the two sisters seem to have decided to stick around. Many employees have reported hearing footsteps in the hall, even when no one was there. There are also times when items have been moved and later found in odd places, as well as doors opening and closing on their own. Electrical equipment and gadgets are also amusing to the two ghostly sisters.

The Market Street Brewery and Public house has had many names, once being a factory, another a distillery, and many times over different taverns. During that time, an entity seems to have taken a liking to the place and stuck around. Although said to behave himself during the day, things can get a bit creepy and unsettling at night. When customers are around, he makes his presence known by swinging lights and moving chairs. When he turns the lights off, sometimes he will turn them back on if asked.

It seems that President Andrew Jackson has not been able to let go of his old home, the Hermitage. There have been many reports of not only him, but also some of the past servants and slaves, perhaps even his wife. President Jackson once made his presence known in the middle of the night to some women by rudely awakening them by riding his horse up and down the main staircase. The sounds of chains being dragged across the porch and loud noises in the kitchen have also been reported. Even today, people report-seeing apparitions of slaves on the balcony where President Jackson's room once was.

The State Capitol is not only where you can hear your congressman hash things out, but apparently where two rival ghosts still hash things out also. William Strickland, who was the architect of the building, and Samuel Morgan, who was the head of the Capitol Commission during that time, is still heard arguing today, as they did when alive. Officers patrolling the grounds have often heard people arguing on quiet nights inside. When they go to investigate, they never find anything. Some also say that if you rudely place your feet on the sofas, the two ghosts have no tolerance for that and will inform you to remove them.

Visiting a haunted house is exciting and thrilling; visiting a real haunted house is exciting, thrilling, and scary. If you are interested in trying for a chance encounter with a ghost, a haunted house Nashville area may be where you can find them. This is only a small list of the haunted places you can visit, each one as eerie as the next.
