Master Film Making Classes Can Be Taken Online As Well As In Person

By Francisco Perry

People who go to see a lot of movies might appreciate that it takes a lot of people to put together their evening's entertainment. The audience might not think about it, but an individual somewhere, usually a year or more before the picture is viewed, will sit down in front of their computer and bang out a screenplay. This will have the story plus all the directions for the actors and set designers and probably items for the props people and wardrobe crew as well. A director is the next person to see a screenplay and they will decide if it's 'doable' or not. They will think in terms of vision and how the screenplay will look on the big screen and just who will play each character. There are many diverse jobs when it comes to creating a movie and most people will have passed master film making classes before beginning their career as a movie maker.

The script is similar to the foundation of a house. The screenwriter lays the foundation for the movie to be built upon by all the people who work to make the movie complete. Each person begins working from the blueprint or script working towards what the director has in his or her vision. The next person who sees the script after a director would be the casting company who is charged with finding all the right actors and extras to fill in the moving pieces of the script. Some movies are well written and can carry their own with very little input from the actors; others need more from an acting staff. This is determined by the director and their vision.

Several students who end up in the movie business begin in high school, taking a course about where movies come from, why our society has movies and how they could be made. Almost every culture in the world has some type of movie and film industry, Hollywood happens to be the largest and is located in the Untied States. The basics are typically only what is covered in a beginning course in high school, but if a student is serious about their place in creating movies, then they will go on to college to learn more about the creation and a specific job within the movie industry.

The overall basics of who does what in the movie industry is probably a good beginning place for a film student. It would explain in detail the roles of various people and then a student would be able to make a decision as to what part they would like to play in making movies. Those students with a gift for writing might become screenwriters and those who can clearly see a finished product could become directors.

There are lots of different accredited movie making courses offered at a local college, university or online course one could take and study at their own pace. A director would take a different set of courses then someone who wants to write scripts and someone who wants to become an actor would take a completely different set of courses. Although, most of the time, these students would perform one anther's work in order to receive the hands-on training they need.

There are many jobs for people who want to help create movies. There are set designers and location scouts who also make sure a location is suitable for a scene. These are the people who will make sure a location, either indoors or outdoors, is a perfect match for what the writer has described. They are sometimes in charge of a construction or set crew who builds sets instead of using existing buildings to get what the writer and director want.

Even if a movie is not an action film, it will still need something happening in the scenes, some type of action; even character's talking is action. The actors need to be told where to stand; when to talk and how to do whatever it is they need to do. They are more then mere puppets, however, they bring characters to life with their words and body language that a director can't always coax out of an actor.

Master film making classes will teach people who want to learn about the craft of movie making exactly what is done to bring a blank piece of paper full circle to the big screen. There are many different types of jobs for different types of people within a movie and an individual needs to find out what they are good at first in order to excel and make good movies. However, no matter how good a location looks, how good the direction is or how good the actor delivers the lines, it all starts with a writer, a blank piece of paper and an idea. - 40731
